Kathryn Grutkoski


Kathryn is a physics major in the class of 2021. She went to Irondale High School in New Brighton, Minnesota. She declared her physics major early on in her first semester of college. During spring semester of her first year, she took an independent study in cosmology with Professor Tom Giblin. In her sophomore year, she took another independent study, and joined the Cosmology Lab in January 2019 as a Clare Boothe Luce Scholar doing research regarding gauge preheating. During this summer, she will be modifying gauge GABE to have multiple gauge fields.

Outside of Cosmology research, Kathryn is a Community Advisor for first year area, a tour guide, and a co-director for a middle school science outreach program. In her free time, she enjoys spending time hiking, reading, and playing French horn.
