Vivien (Viv) Luce

Biography

Viv Luce

Vivien (Viv) Luce is a member of the Kenyon class of 2028 and is from Cleveland, Ohio. She decided to be a physics major when she first watched Cosmos around age 10, but decided on Kenyon after a (very long) conversation with Tom during a tour. They are currently using a model of GABE with Newtonian gravity and gauge fields to test the viability of gauge preheating with the presence of charged particles, which they represent in the simulation using a complex scalar field. She hopes that this will yield a more physically detailed picture of gauge preheating and determine whether to move to the next step: gauge preheating in full numerical relativity.

Beyond physics, Viv is also a music minor and plays trombone in various groups, including the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Kenyon Pep Band, where they are the current librarian. When not in Hayes or Storer (a rare achievement), Viv can be found nerding out about Star Wars, baking, or starting yet another craft or fiber arts project.
